Asian Leadership – embracing cultural agility and breaking Asian stereotypes
In the wake of global movements such as #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter, overwhelmingly global corporates are loudly proclaiming its support for minorities, be it gender or ethnicity. These movements broadened attention not just on work equalities, but on the everyday indignities that minorities face: being marginalized, overlooked, and underpaid. Driving diversity and inclusion is no longer just ‘nice-to-have’, it is a business imperative that corporates must drive forward.
No doubt the rise of the middle class and spending power has been accelerating in Asia. Many MNCs turn to Asia for business growth. The challenge is not just accessing the marketplace but also building ethnic Asians who could lead Asia and even bigger regions. To capitalize on Asian talents, many corporates develop customized Asian Leadership Programs. However, many MNCs still lament how few Asians talents they have. What does it take for Asians to ‘step up’?
Adele, like many Asians, is deeply ingrained by the virtues of humanity, social and ritual propriety, loyalty, and filial piety. While these qualities make many Asians successful at the beginning of their careers, they often slow down their progress to attain more senior positions in MNC. To break the Asian leadership ceiling, Adele consciously transforms into a versatile leader who integrates multicultural quotients, allowing her to ‘act local and lead global’. Keen to know how to break Asian stereotypes and overcome self-limiting beliefs? Engage Adele for first-hand transformative experience sharing.
